Falkirk have appointed Hibs head of academy coaching James McDonaugh as their new first team coach.

McDonaugh’s future at Easter Road had been the subject of much speculation amid suggestions his position and salary could be under review as chief executive Leeann Dempster continues to restructure the club.

Widely praised for his management of Hibs Under-20 side, McDonaugh has now accepted an offer to work with Bairns’ boss Peter Houston.

McDonaugh said: “I’d like to say huge thank-you to staff, players, everyone at Hibernian FC for my time at the club and I’d like to wish everyone every success at Hibs, but now I am looking forward to a fantastic opportunity at Falkirk.”
