Hibs boss Alan Stubbs has confirmed he’s set to make his second signing of the transfer window by bringing Norwegian defender Niklas Gunnarsson to Easter Road.
The 24-year-old has been in Edinburgh since yesterday discussing a deal which would see him arrive on loan, with the option to turn it into a permanent move should he impress.
Stubbs told the Evening News: “We are close, it’s very close to being completed. We are 99 per cent done and hopefully he’ll sign first thing in the morning.”
Primarily a right back, Gunnarsson, who has been capped four times at Under-23 level by Norway, can play anywhere along the backline and at 6ft 2in is known for his trademark long throws, good crossing ability and his offensive play.
Gunnarsson signed a three-year deal with Oslo-based outfit Valerenga in January 2014, but latterly has been on loan with Swedish club Elfsborg.
Stubbs has already brought English striker Chris Dagnall in from Kerala Blasters during this transfer window.
