Alan Stubbs welcomed the news that Hibs will be able to call on key man John McGinn for Saturday’s clash with Queen of the South and the top-of-the-Championship showdown with Rangers at Ibrox on Monday week.
The midfielder was set to miss both games after being sent off for a foul on Mark Kerr in last weekend’s draw with Falkirk. However, a club appeal succeeded today, when McGinn, who was accompanied to his Hampden hearing by head of football operations George Craig, had his red card downgraded to a yellow.
“We’re delighted it has been overturned,” said head coach Stubbs. “We feel we put a really strong case together. And we’re delighted that the appeal panel has accepted that and agreed with us. The fact he is available for the weekend – we couldn’t have asked for anything better. They got it right.
