Alan Stubbs has moved to kill speculation linking Hibs with a move for Everton veteran Leon Osman.
Rumours claiming the 34-year-old was Easter Road bound during the January transfer window have gripped Hibs fans in recent days. However, Stubbs revealed such gossip is groundless.
“God knows,” he replied when asked where the story had come from, “I actually saw that. He was mentioned and Hibbo (Tony Hibbert) at one point and there have been other names mentioned.
“But, as I have said all along, I am not going to talk about players at other clubs. I know Ozzy really well, he’s a good friend as an ex-team-mate.”
Joking Osman would struggle to get into his side in any case, the head coach went on: “Leon came on for Everton last Saturday and I think his focus is clearly there.”
Having made former Leyton Orient striker Chris Dagnall his first signing of the window, Stubbs is now aiming to bring in another defender in the coming days.
He said: “I have laid my cards on the table and said what we are going to do.
“We’ve done half of it and we’ll bring another defender in. What happens after that? You’ll have to keep guessing.”
