Hibernian Ladies are aiming to complete a cup double tomorrow afternoon when they face Glasgow City in the Henson Projects Scottish Cup Final at Toryglen Regional Football Centre, Glasgow.
The Easter Road girls are the current holders of the trophy and are hoping to add more silverware to compliment the Premier League Cup that they won earlier this season.
Glasgow City, however, will be formidable opponents for Hibs and they completed their league campaign undefeated after winning all twenty of their fixtures. The Scottish Champions also reached the last 16 of the UEFA Women’s Champions League and can boast of a side full of internationalists.
Hibs too have a number of Scotland players in their ranks and are in fact the only side to have defeated City domestically this season.
Their goalkeeper Shannon Lynn has been nominated for the Scottish Player’s Player of the Year award for the second successive season and she insists her side are ready for the challenge.
She commented: “We know it is going to be tough tomorrow and defeating City is certainly a difficult task.
“They deserve all the success they have had after an incredible season. However, we are ready for them.
“We have prepared thoroughly and we know that because we won competition last season that there is pressure on us to do so again.
“The important thing is to go into the game focused and confident.
“To ensure that we take advantage of the chances we create and to work very hard in order win the game.”
Coach Willie Kirk added: “The girls will need to show a mental toughness and togetherness to work and play as a team.
“We have the ability but the players need to believe it and show a confidence to express themselves and take the game to City.”
Tomorrow’s final kicks-off at 3.oopm with admission prices set at £5 for adults, £2 for children whilst a family ticket (2 adults and 2 children) costs £10.
