Hibs Ladies will have their youngest-ever squad for the new Scottish Women’s Premier League campaign after the Capital club announced two more signings.
Former Celtic youngsters Abigail Harrison and Emma Brownlie have been snapped up just weeks after Heather Richards and Chloe Arthur made the same switch from the Hoops to the Hibees.
“I’m absolutely delighted to sign for the club because I’ve always had respect for Hibs,” commented 17-year-old striker Harrison.
“We want to be pushing for the title. I know I’ve made the right choice coming to Hibs and I’m looking forward to what will be an exciting season ahead.”
Defender Brownlie, 21, returns for a second spell at the club and is confident the girls can make observers sit up and take notice.
She joked: “Given the average age of the squad I must be one of the older heads! Hopefully my experience will help the younger players and together we will make ourselves known and be successful.”
Manager Chris Roberts continues to shape his side ahead of next season and is delighted to land both players after keeping a close eye on their progress in recent years, saying: “We are delighted to welcome Emma and Abigail to Hibernian Ladies.
“Emma played here a few years ago and it’s great to have her back; she reads the game very well and her ability to get on the ball and support in attack fits in with our style of play.
“Abi will bring a real attacking threat to the team.
“We’ve admired her quality and directness over the last few years and it’s exciting to have her on our side.
“Both players are very ambitious and as much as they will add to our current squad we also hope to support them on the international stage.”
