Hibs today revealed plans to launch an “away season ticket”, guaranteeing those who travel week in, week out will be able to watch the Easter Road outfit.

Chief executive Leeann Dempster believes the new scheme will take the stress out of getting tickets for away matches for those supporters who regularly follow the team, recognising the “vital role” they play in backing the players.

Dempster also revealed that the club’s loyalty points system will be scrapped – insisting that as well intended as it was, it failed on more levels than it was successful on.

A lengthy review has been ongoing for a number of months but now, Dempster claimed, Hibs have come up with a solution which will both eliminate the negativity around loyalty points, while building the value of season tickets and is consistent and supportive of those who want to travel.

She said: “I feel we have struck a balance of looking after and supporting those who want to travel all the time and also home season ticket holders who also want access to some away matches.”
