The draw for the quarter-finals of the William Hill Scottish Cup today threw up the prospect of an Edinburgh derby with Hibs due to play either Spartans or Berwick Rangers at Easter Road.
Spartans earned themselves a second crack at a place in the last eight, Ally MacKinnon’s late equaliser earning them a replay at Shielfield Park next Tuesday.
Alan Stubbs’ men, meanwhile, booked their place with a 3-1 home win over Arbroath.
Dundee United were drawn at home to Celtic in the only all-Premiership tie while John Hughes’ Inverness Caley will entertain Rangers’ conquerors Raith Rovers. Queen of the South, who knocked out holders St Johnstone at the weekend, will face Falkirk at Palmerston Park.
The ties are due to be played on the weekend of March 7 and 8.
