Hibs midfielder Danny Handling is facing up to six months out of action after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament during Tuesday night’s 3-0 friendly win over Berwick Rangers.

The 21-year-old crumpled to the turf 20 minutes into the match at Shielfield Park and Hibs’ worst fears were realised today when a serious knee injury was confirmed.

Handling, who made 24 appearances for the Easter Road outfit last season, scoring three goals, will undergo an operation next week.
