Hibs chief executive Leeann Dempster was today preparing to “focus on football”, with one of her primary tasks this week to decide if under-pressure manager Terry Butcher will remain in charge.
The former Motherwell CEO spent her first week in her new role firefighting, with the campaign to oust chairman Rod Petrie dominating the fallout from relegation 15 days ago.
However, she pointed out: “I understand the frustrations and anger, but I need to focus my attention on the season ahead and preparing the football club for life in the Championship.”
That will involve meeting with Butcher, who returns from his holiday amid speculation over whether or not he will be retained.
The Englishman has only met Dempster once – the day after relegation – but that was when she was still officially an employee at Motherwell.
In an interview last week, she said that the manager’s future would become clear after they meet this week.
