Hibs Under-20s and their Falkirk counterparts played out a 2-2 draw in an entertaining match last night.
Jason Cummings opened the scoring before Luke Leahy and Ollie Durojaiye gave the home side the lead in the first half.
The visitors piled on the pressure in the second half and their perseverance was rewarded as Cummings netted his second of the game to earn a point for his side.
The opening goal came courtesy of Paul Heffernan reacting sharply to a slack pass across the Falkirk backline.
The experienced forward was able to play the ball to Cummings who fired neatly into the bottom corner from 18 yards out in the third minute.
Falkirk did not let their heads drop and Leahy prodded home on 14 minutes as a Connor Hogg cross was allowed to bounce across the goal mouth.
The Bairns took the lead in spectacular style as Durojaiye curled home from outside the area and beyond Paul Grant with 26 minutes on the clock.
However, Hibs were the dominant force in the second half as they regularly carved open their host’s defence, with Bairns keeper Graham Bowman repelling the visitors.
Cummings fired into the side netting and Heffernan snatched at a chance as it dropped to him with the goal at his mercy.
With a little more than 11 minutes remaining Cummings utilised his pace as he raced beyond the Falkirk defence and nonchalantly finished past Bowman.
Euan Smith and Daniel Boateng had clear-cut opportunities to earn the Hibs youngsters a second 3-2 win on the bounce following their mini Edinburgh derby victory the previous week.
But Bowman was again in form, denying the Academy prospect and the Arsenal loanee as the sides shared the spoils.
