Leith aim for eight in a row

  • by KEITH ANDERSON

Leith ATHLETIC are in action tonight when they host second-placed Stirling University in the Central Taxis Premier Division (kick-off 6.30pm).

Derek Riddel’s side are in second bottom spot, although they are now on the same number of points as Vale of Leithen and only two points behind Lothian Thistle. “We are now not far off Lothian while Tynecastle are still in there as well,” said Riddel. “We are in good form at the moment and that’s seven games unbeaten. We are going up the way while other teams are going down, so hopefully we can keep that form up.

Leith will be without their suspended captain, Gary Black, but Riddel said: “We have guys who are capable of slotting in and doing the business for us.”

Elsewhere tonight, Edinburgh University could move up to fourth in the Premier Division with a home win over Vale of Leithen who they beat 3-2 on Saturday in Innerleithen. Tonight’s game at Peffermill kicks off at 6.30pm.
