Forth One’s Cash For Kids will receive well over £1000 from the Forth One Allstars’ charity match against the Belmont Warriors last Sunday.

The Allstars’ 17-3 win at Bonnyrigg’s New Dundas Park raised a healthy sum and doubled as a 70th birthday celebration for ex-Bonnyrigg Rose and Hibs legend Pat Stanton.

Despite the heavy defeat in front of around 150 fans, Belmont brought on super-sub Evan MacDonald – a ten-year-old competition winner who netted a quick-fire double against the Forth One celebrity XI.

Forth One manager Mark Martin said: “I would like to thank everyone who turned up to New Dundas Park and helped kickstart our Cash For Kids Christmas Appeal. Had Evan MacDonald started the game, the scoreline might have been a lot closer! He’s a great talent and could be a future Allstar with goals like that. I’ll make enquiries about a transfer fee.”

Scott MacDonald of Belmont said: “The crowd backed both teams tremendously and raising over £1000 was beyond everyone’s expectations.

“We want to make this an annual fixture and, with the continued support of Pat Stanton and Bonnyrigg Rose, this is a strong possibility. Let’s not play aggregate scores though.”

Amongst the goalscorers were comedian Gareth Waugh, celebrity stylist Boyd MacIntyre, Preston Athletic star Brian Foster, and Shaun Martin, who scored six goals.
