Bo’ness United boss Allan McGonigal believes his side will be “going into the lions’ den” after they were paired against Scottish Junior Cup holders Hurlford United in yesterday’s fourth-round draw.

The East Super League champions’ match away to the Ayrshire giants is the pick of the ties of the last 32 to be played on Saturday, January 17.

McGonigal was dismayed once more by the difficulty of their draw. He said: “It’s quite unbelievable, I don’t know who is drawing these draws out, but they are certainly against Bo’ness at the moment.

“Last year we were drawn against Bonnyrigg and Auchinleck within the first three rounds and this year we’ve already had Kelty – probably the hardest tie away in the East Region, and now we are going into the lions’ den in terms of the Hurlford game. They are the holders of the cup and are flying in their division.”
