Edinburgh City moved eight points clear at the top of the Lowland League as they beat BSC Glasgow 3-0 in the first-ever meeting between the teams.

City got off to the best possible start at Meadowbank when Shaun Harrison rose to head in a corner.

The home side kept up the pressure and Stewart had to look sharp to touch over a fierce Ross Guthrie drive before John Dunn headed a cross just wide of the mark.

City doubled their lead on the half-hour mark when a short corner was played to Guthrie and he fired an angled shot into the net. City went further ahead just after the interval when Jordan Caddow’s header took a
deflection off Ross Allum on its way into the net.

Stirling University left the Pennypit with a 2-0 victory for the third time this season to complete a clean sweep of five wins out of five over Preston Athletic.

The visitors took the lead on 16 minutes as the Preston defence fell asleep at a corner, allowing Ross Kellock to curl a fine effort from the corner of the box over John Gilbertson and into the top corner.

Almost immediately, Preston skipper Scott Gibson’s header hit the top of the bar and then the unmarked Jamie Todd headed wide at the back post.

The second goal came after half an hour when Jeff Kessie’s cross took a deflection and wrong-footed keeper Gilbertson, who could only palm the ball into his own net. The game was effectively over for the home side just before half time as Chris Cairney picked up two quick bookings and was shown red for the third time this season.
