EDINBURGH CITY took time to break down Ormiston before running out 4-0 winners in their second-round East of Scotland Qualifying Cup tie.
The Lowland League champions finally took the lead in 70 minutes when George Cunningham failed to trap a high ball from midfield and Dean Carse darted in to score from close range. In 79 minutes, Ross Allum beat the offside trap to collect a perfect pass from Mark McConnell and push the ball under Derek Robertson.
As Ormiston tired, City increased the pressure. Six minutes from time Carse nodded in Allum’s cross from the left wing and, a minute later, Shaun Harrison’s header brushed the top of the crossbar. In time added on, former Berwick striker Carse secured his hat-trick with another point-blank header from an Allum cross.
