Edinburgh and Stirling Universities meet tonight on Lowland League duty at East Peffermill in what is the home side’s first game since before Christmas – when they faced the same opponents.

Dorian Ogunro’s side snatched a late draw in the previous student derby thanks to Stuart McFarlane’s last-gasp penalty on December 20 in the Lowland League Cup Central Section A encounter. They face a Stirling side high on confidence following Sunday’s seven-goal demolition of Threave Rovers at Ainslie Park.

Edinburgh University captain Duncan Black is glad to get back into the swing of things following a run of just one defeat in four prior to their recent enforced break.

“The boys are a bit frustrated by the lack of games,” said the centre-back. “This is actually our first game since playing Stirling at home so we’re looking forward to getting back into it.

“We normally kick on after the Christmas break anyway so we’re looking forward to it.”
