Edinburgh University moved six points clear of Threave in the Lowland League table defeating them convincingly in a 3-1 home success.

The students came flying out the traps and, after seven minutes, Jack Guthrie had a powerful shot palmed over the bar by Threave goalkeeper Parker. From the resultant corner, the ball fell to George Nikolaidis on the edge of the box and he drilled the ball low into the net.

Just before half-time, Nikolaidis slid the ball through to Joe Aitken, who side footed it into the net to send the students in at the break two goals up. On 68 minutes, the ball was slipped through to Guthrie and he calmly slotted home. Threave were still battling hard and David Frew scored with a strong header from a free-kick.

In the 83rd minute, Threave’s Greig Goodwin was sent off for a second yellow card.
