Nico Gibson feels he is just about back to full fitness as he and his Edinburgh City team-mates prepare to face Stirling University in the South Challenge Cup tomorrow.

The City striker missed a large chunk of the first half of the season through injury, but following his midweek brace in City’s 3-0 win over Spartans, the ex-Aberdeen youngster believes he is almost back in his peak condition.

“I’m nearly back to my best now,” said Gibson. “I missed the game last Saturday, then got a good run-out on Wednesday so I’m nearly back there now. I’m over my injuries so hopefully the next half of the season – the important part – I’ll be more involved.”

Spartans will be hoping to bounce back from that Image Printers Cup defeat to the league leaders when they play Vale of Leithen at Ainslie Park.

Whitehill Welfare could finally play their first competitive game since January 3 when Tynecastle visit Ferguson Park in their South Challenge Cup third round tie.

Captain Andrew Kidd and Kerr Dodds are available as their impending suspensions are for Lowland League fixtures, while defender John Hall is available again after returning from honeymoon.
