Heriot-Watt University head coach Chris Smith has resigned from his position despite the club’s promotion to the Central Taxis Premier Division next season.
Smith had been in charge for six years at Riccarton where he also works as a Scottish Football Association Development Officer.
Work commitments with the SFA after the summer will mean he is unable to continue in his role as head coach, but he paid tribute to the efforts of his players this season and hopes they continue to progress.
“I have a few work opportunities with the SFA after the summer and unfortunately I’m just not going to be able to dedicate the time to the Heriot-Watt role,” Smith explained.
“The club provided me with a great platform to learn my trade as a manager and I look forward to seeing the boys progress over the coming years.”
Watt secured their promotion to the Premier League on the last day of the season with a 3-2 victory over Eyemouth United which ensured the runners-up spot in the First Division.
