HIBS LADIES continue to lead the way at the top of the Scottish Women’s Premier League but boss Chris Roberts insists his side are not reading too much into their early-season placing.
The Hibees maintained their 100 per cent start to the campaign when they recorded a 3-1 victory over Stirling University at Albyn Park, Broxburn.
Goals from Abbi Harrison, Heather Richards and Lia Tweedie gave the girls in green all three points. However, Roberts insisted: “It’s a nice feeling for the girls to see themselves top of the league but the table won’t really reflect where we are until everyone has played eachother so, for now, we are focusing on our performances.”
Elsewhere, Hutchison Vale came from behind to defeat Hamilton Academical 4-1 and claim their first victory of the new campaign.
Ashley Carse, Gillian Perry, Laura Gavin and Rachel Walkingshaw were all on target for the Black and Yellows with manager Andy Enwood delighted to secure three points.
He commented: “It’s a great result and, after a tricky start to the season, I am delighted that the girls efforts have been rewarded.”
Meanwhile, it was a disappointing weekend for Spartans and Hearts Women as they lost to Rangers (4-0) and Celtic (7-1) respectively.
