Manager Dougie Samuel says it would be “wonderful” if Spartans get Hibs or Hearts in this afternoon’s William Hill Scottish Cup fourth-round draw after the Capital side dumped League 2 Clyde out of the competition.

The Lowland League outfit defeated Barry Ferguson’s men 2-0 at Ainslie Park on Saturday to make the fourth round of the competition for the third time in their history and now Samuel wants to be paired with either Edinburgh club.

“For me as a manager, it’s my first time in the fourth round, and I would like us to get Hibs or Hearts,” Samuel told the Evening News. “We’re an Edinburgh-based club and it would be wonderful for us if we were to get either of them. That would be our first choice. I’m a Hibs fan, so that would be extra special.

“Of course, I think if we get anyone from the Premiership then that would be just fantastic, but ideally we would get Hibs or Hearts from the Championship.”
