Penicuik Athletic have moved swiftly to appoint a new manager with Johnny Harvey replacing Craig Meikle.

Former Penicuik striker Harvey resigned from his post with Haddington Athletic to take charge at the club where he established himself as a fans’ favourite.

Meikle surprisingly announced his decision to resign on Tuesday night after leading Penicuik to the Fife and Lothians Cup last season.

Harvey took Edinburgh United to the South Division title back in 2014 – his first full season in management before he left for Millfield. He then repeated his title success with Haddington, steering them to the title before enjoying a promising first campaign in the Premier League last year as they secured a top-five finish.
