Linlithgow Rose 8
Kirkcaldy YM 0
The gulf between the teams was obvious from the start in this Fife and Lothians Cup second-round clash.
Linlithgow dominated play and should have been goals up before they finally did find the net. Tommy Coyne played his part in the opening goal in 15 minutes when he played a super pass through to Calum Smith who rounded the keeper to score easily. The second came ten minutes later when Stuart McArthur flicked home an Adam Nelson corner at the near post. The third came only five minutes later with Smith again providing the finish, this time lobbing the keeper from the edge of the box. Smith completed a first-half hat-trick with a shot from the penalty spot after McArthur headed a Nelson free-kick into his path.
Any chance of a fight back from Kirkcaldy was wiped out when Ruari McLennann waltzed through the visiting defence before stroking the ball past the keeper for Linlithgow’s fifth. A couple of minutes later and McLennan’s brother Roddy twisted his way into the six-yard box before sliding the ball home. Kirkcaldy’s Chris Burt was then sent off for aiming a kick at McArthur. In the 75th minute substitute Stephen Manson fired home from the edge of the box and two minutes later Fellow sub Colin Strickland scored to complete the rout.
