Linlithgow ROSE bounced back from their Scottish Cup Final defeat on Sunday past with a solid performance in winning 4-1 at Newtongrange Star to reach the East of Scotland Cup Final where they will meet Bonnyrigg.
Linlithgow, beaten 1-0 by Auchinleck Talbot in the Junior showpiece final, came out of the starting blocks in a determined mood and made the breakthrough on 15 minutes when Colin Strickland drilled a low ball into the far corner of the net. Then, five minutes after half-time, Rose substitute Calum Smith made it 2-0 with his first touch of the ball.
Star pulled one back five minutes later through substitute Lewis Turner, but Linlithgow were out to make a statement and, in the 72nd minute, Smith played a super pass into the channel for Ruari MacLennan to slide the ball under the keeper’s body for their third.
Star then saw a penalty saved by Linlithgow keeper David Hay and the Rose capped off a fine night when Ruari MacLennan finished off a good move down the right with their fourth goal of the night.
