Lothian Thistle head to Lily with both sides needing win

Have your say

Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale travel to Easthouses Lily in the second round of the Image Printers Cup tomorrow, with August’s enthralling ten-goal encounter between the two sides fresh in the memory.

Hutchie came out on top in that Qualifying Cup fixture in a 6-4 triumph despite playing 70 minutes with ten men, but the recent form of both sides suggest both teams are in need of a positive result tomorrow.

Easthouses have made a formidable start to their Central Taxis Premier Division campaign following last season’s promotion, but are without a win in their last three matches.

Lothian have also lost their last three games, beginning with their Scottish Cup exit to East Kilbride, which ended a five month unbeaten run, a 2-1 defeat to Spartans EOS and last weekend’s shock 7-2 defeat at Civil Service Strollers.

Manager Kevin Twaddle is a little thin on the ground for tomorrow’s clash at Newbattle Complex with Paul Connolly, Callum Connolly, Matthew Jont and Kevin Keane all out of due to injury, while Connor McGregor is suspended following his red card at Civil Service last weekend.

Easthouses Lily’s only absentee is Ross McManus and Dave McQueenie will also make a late decision on goalkeeper John Falconer as he picked up an eye injury in last weekend’s loss at Leith Athletic.

There is also a first-round clash tomorrow with Civil Service Strollers travelling to the Borders to face First Division Duns.

In the Central Taxis Premier Division, Craigroyston host Coldstream, Spartans EOS travel to Stirling University, while in the First Division, Ormiston can go top if they beat Burntisland Shipyard at home.
