EDINBURGH CITY moved nine points clear at the top of the Lowland League after beating Edinburgh University 5-0 at Meadowbank.

City opened the scoring early on when Dougie Gair’s cross fell to Ian McFarland and his diving header went past Tufail.

The home side increased their lead soon after when Tufail could only block McDonald’s low drive and Gair pounced on the loose ball to fire in.

As half-time approached, Sean Muhsin headed in a pinpoint cross from John McDonald to make it three.

With 20 minutes remaining, Dean Carse fired a Gair cross in from 18 yards and City went nap in the 81st minute when Dunn played See clean through on goal and he managed to squeeze the ball into the net despite the efforts of Tufail and Sutherland to prevent the goal.
