Spartans were in seventh heaven in the horrendous conditions at Pennypit, scoring seven without reply against Preston Athletic.
The visitors took an 11th-minute lead after Conner Duthie played in Aaron Murrell for the youngster to drill home.
Duthie then netted his first in Spartans colours with a sweetly struck drive from 15 yards.
Spartans bagged four goals in a frantic ten-minute period after the break. Keith Murray had to wait on the officials deliberating over an offside call before his goal was confirmed then Murrell and Duthie both secured braces in quick style.
Dean Horribine whipped in a fierce low cross that found the outstretched foot of the unlucky Reece Cochrane who popped it across his own line and, with three minutes left, David Greenhill made it seven.
