NEWTONGRANGE STAR host Scottish Junior Cup finalists Musselburgh Athletic at New Victoria Park in the third round of the DJ Laing East of Scotland Cup tonight (kick-off 6.45pm).

Alan Miller’s side will be hoping to catch a Burgh outfit still in party mode after they booked their cup final spot at the weekend, with the winner of this tie hosting Hill of Beath Hawthorn in the quarter-finals. Star, who have won their last three Super League matches as they bid to push leaders Kelty all the way in the title race, triumphed 1-0 at home to the Olivebank men when the sides last met in October.

Meanwhile, Linlithgow Rose boss Danny Smith will be looking for a response from his players after their 5-4 aggregate defeat to Burgh, when they take on Bonnyrigg Rose in the second round of the East of Scotland Cup at Prestonfield (kick-off 6.45pm). A third-round trip to Bo’ness United’s Newtown Park awaits the winner.

In the Premier League, promotion-chasing Dalkeith Thistle take on Edinburgh United at King’s Park (kick-off 6.45pm). Dalkeith sit one point behind joint-top Tayport and St Andrews, although the top two have games in hand over the Jags whose best hope is to finish third and secure a play-off spot. United could still reach third, although they have another ten league games to play after tonight’s encounter.
