Bonnyrigg Rose boss Robbie Horn doesn’t expect his players to be suffering a post-title hangover when they visit Linlithgow Rose in the semi-final of the Fife and Lothians Cup tonight (kick-off 7.15pm).

Horn insists they’ll be motivated and raring to go, with their eyes now firmly focused on a league and cup double.

Rose secured the Super League title last Wednesday night at home to Camelon but postponed their celebrations until Saturday when they went a tour of the local pubs and paraded the league trophy.

“It’s been a fantastic season already to win the league, but to win another trophy would just top it all off,” said Horn.

“The players are full of confidence and hopefully there is a bit of momentum behind us as well after winning the league. It’s a great opportunity to win another trophy.

“We trained on Monday night and the boys sweated the drink out of them. We’ll just prepare as normal. I don’t think the players will find it difficult to pick themselves up after the celebrations and the joy we’ve had in the last week or so. I’m sure the players will be able to motivate themselves to go again.”

Should they secure a cup final spot, Rose face the prospect of two weeks without a fixture as they end their league campaign at home to Penicuik Athletic – who travel to Kelty Hearts in the other semi-final tonight (7.30pm) – on Saturday.

The final is likely to take place in the middle of June and, should they make it, Rose will have several players unavailable as they will be on holiday.

Meanwhile, Bonnyrigg have been pipped to the signing of Musselburgh Athletic striker Steven Thomson, who is set to make his first move to the senior ranks by joining League Two side Berwick Rangers. The 31-year-old had initially agreed to rejoin his former club, but couldn’t turn down a move to Shielfield Park.
