Spartans and East Kilbride will do it all again at K-Park this weekend following a thrilling 3-3 draw in the second round of the William Hill Scottish Cup.
East Kilbride opened the scoring in the 16th minute when they were awarded what appeared to be a very soft penalty. Joao Vitoria stepped up and continued his great goal scoring form this season by placing the ball into the bottom right corner of the net.
Spartans responded well however and Willie Bremner fired an accurate half volley from the edge of the box beyond the reach of Jacob Kean in the East Kilbride goal after 23 minutes.
Vitoria turned provider for the visitors in the 27th minute. Using his pace to race free on the right wing, he was able to eventually cut the ball along the six-yard box where Liam Gormley was unmarked at the back post to turn the ball into the goal.
Ally MacKinnon got things back level in the 69th minute when he headed a Kevin Motion cross into the net at the back post.
Spartans’ task was made even harder in the 71st minute when Motion was shown his second yellow card, however just three minutes later Keith McLeod met a Jack Beesley cross at the front post to blast the ball into the net and give ten-man Spartans the lead. East Kilbride found the equaliser in the 79th minute when Vitoria completed a superb personal performance with a curling free-kick from 20 yards.
