NEWTONGRANGE have won a race against a host of other sides to sign Chris King from Musselburgh, writes MARTIN DEMPSTER.
“We were made aware that Chris was available after it had been circulated by East Region secretary John Reilly,” said Star boss Alan Miller.
“We got in touch with [Musselburgh manager] David McGlynn and were told Chris was attracting a lot of attention.
“I believe Bo’ness, Broxburn, Penicuik and possibly others were all showing an interest in him.
“We had a chat with him on Tuesday night and he liked what he heard.
“We are delighted to get him and the most encouraging thing is that he has shown a commitment to the club by singing a deal until 2014.”
King, who helped Burgh get into the Super League, had a spell at Linlithgow last season before returning to Olivebank.
He played in last season’s Junior Cup Final against Auchinleck at Rugby Park.
“He’s a terrific signing for and will give us a create element higher up the park,” added Miller.
