DEREK STRICKLAND has resigned as Bathgate Thistle boss after being informed of budget cuts for next season.
Strickland, who was on a one-year rolling contract, believed the cuts would mean another rebuilding job at the Premier League club – who just missed out on promotion this season – and that it would take him “four or five years” to make the team competitive again. He said: “I was told the club would have to cut the players’ budget. The squad would have to be completely rebuilt again.
“I don’t believe I have another four or five years in me to undertake such a role so I reluctantly deciced it was the best thing for the club and myself to leave.”
