Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale manager Kevin Twaddle believes it is vital his reigning champions start to get some points on the board before current league leaders Leith Athletic start to pull away from the Premier Division pack.
Hutchie will be looking for their first league win since a 4-1 victory over basement side Stirling University last month, and with recent defeats to Civil Service Strollers and their latest setback at Easthouses Lily, Twaddle knows his side have to get back to winning ways quickly against Tynecastle at Fernieside tomorrow.
“We need to start winning our league games,” he said. “At the moment, Leith are looking very strong and if you lose your games in hand then you lose ground very quickly. It starts for us tomorrow against Tynecastle and the players know they have to start registering the points.”
Twaddle is missing Connor McGregor for tomorrow’s local derby as he has been handed another three-match suspension following his red card at Easthouses Lily. Callum Connolly is Twaddle’s only other absentee.
Tynecastle will be without Chris Milligan and striker Jamie Devlin following their dismissals in the 3-0 defeat to Leith Athletic last weekend.
In-form Civil Service Strollers host Stirling University tomorrow looking to continue their four-match unbeaten run. Ross McNeill will be missing Scott Richie, Chris Tobin and Kieran McGachie, but will be able to call upon Craig Newalls and Jack Downie, with Jake Moyes still a long-term injury casualty.
In the Central Taxis First Division, Ormiston can return to the top of the table due to Peebles’ participation in South Region Challenge Cup, providing they can overcome third-placed Duns at Recreation Park.
All matches in the Central Taxis Premier and First Division kick off at 2.30pm.
