DALBEATTIE STAR made it three league wins in a row for the first time this season with a 2-0 victory over Edinburgh University.
The hosts were ahead after just 64 seconds when Lewis Sloan picked up Duncan Black’s clearance and sent a wonderful effort high into the top corner past Uni goalkeeper Mark Tait.
Dorian Ogunro’s men should have levelled on 67 minutes when Finn Daniels-Yeoman found himself alone at the back post but the midfielder failed to make any contact with his header.
That proved costly when Star doubled their advantage with 15 minutes remaining. Allan’s corner wasn’t cleared and the ball fell nicely for sub Johnny Baxter, who rifled the ball high into the net for his second goal in two games.
The Uni came close to a consolation in stoppage time when Nathan Evans saw his low effort well saved by home goalkeeper Darren Martin.
Star had already done enough however, and the win opened up a 13-point gap between themselves and the students in the Lowland League.
