Whitehill and Gretna shared the spoils in Rosewell after Ian Anderson cancelled out Wayne McIntosh’s opener.

McIntosh beat the offside trap on 27 minutes and scored with a lovely lob and they should have added to that as Andy Martin, John Hall and McIntosh all missed good chances.

The visitors were then left ruing missed chances at the break as forward Anderson twice went through on the right and saw two almost identical efforts flash past the upright.

Moments after the restart Welfare were inches away from a second when Kerr Dodds hit the bar. However, after a good spell Gretna were deservedly level, Anderson scoring from the spot after a foul on Jonathan Blake.

Wayne Sproule so very nearly won it for Welfare, hitting the post in injury time.
