East Kilbride opened the scoring after 23 minutes when a shot from Winter was only parried by Tait and Jack Smith tucked the ball home. The visitors added to their lead on 33 minutes when a free kick on the edge of the box rebounded from the wall and was guided home by Winter. The East Kilbride midfield trio of Martin McBride, Winter and Lewis Kinnaird were hard to contain. Just before the break Scott McCrory-Irving went on a good run and his cross was headed narrowly wide by Aitken. Edinburgh worked hard to get back into the game and a fierce 30-yard drive from Finn Daniels-Yeoman was brilliantly saved by Matthew McGinley. At the other end Michael Morris put the ball wide from close range after fine play by substitute Craig Hastings. East Kilbride scored a decisive third goal on 68 minutes when Hastings released Smith. The University were denied a consolation goal when a powerful header from Peter Mair was saved on the line by Craig Howie. The lively Hastings added a fourth goal on 86 minutes when he brushed aside the challenges of Duncan Black and Paul Sutherland and fired home.
