BOROUGHMUIR HIGH girls football team are celebrating today after winning the Scottish Schools senior shield following a penalty shoot-out in the final against Nicolson Institute, Stornoway.
The girls travelled to Inverness for the final of what is the premier trophy on the schedule and after a 0-0 draw at full-time, goalkeeper Hannah Michie proved a heroine. Nicolson scored their first two kicks, before Michie saved the third and the fourth went wide.
For Boroughmuir, known as the Black Cats, Ella Devlin, Cailin Michie, captain Laura Kirkhouse and Katy Nelson all scored.
The girls, who defeated Firrhill High in the semi-final, are the first Boroughmuir football team to become national champions.
