Stirling University see off Royston

Stirling University 4 - 1 Craigroyston

HOLDERS Stirling University came from a goal behind against Craigroyston to move into round two of the Image Printers Cup.

The students fell behind on the half hour mark when a scrappy period of play led to the Stirling defence turning the ball into their own net, but the home side were soon back on level terms thanks to a controversial penalty decision minutes before the break.

Liam Corr fell down in the danger zone and Craigroyston’s Hogarth was judged to have fouled him and referee Billy Cooper quickly pointed to the spot. Chris Geddes stepped up to slot the spot-kick home.

The University returned a rejuvenated side and soon took the lead through a placed
Mason finish. With the students taking full advantage of a tiring Craigroyston back line, Geddes claimed his 99th goal in three years shortly after, and when Paul Sludden was released into a one on one scenario, it was game, set and match.
