Bruntsfield Links are the first side through to the semi- finals in this season’s Edinburgh Summer League.
They made home advantage count to crush Swanston New 8-1 in the Pollock (Scotrans) Ltd-sponsored event.
Kevin Cattanach eagled the third and added birdies at the eighth, 11th and 14th in winning his match.
Two-times Lothians champion Alan Anderson holed from off the green at the 18th for a 3 to win after his opponent had knocked his second shot to within two feet.
Keith MacKenzie bagged three birdies – at the sixth, ninth and 12th – while Ally Ritchie was four-under for 14 holes, having holed his second at the 11th with a 6-iron.
Three down at one point, Andrew Soulsby came back to square his game at the 17th before edging in front when Bob Humble unfortunately three-putted the last.
Sandy Reid, meanwhile, maintained his 100 per cent record this season with a three-birdie effort.
“I knew that Swanston would change the order of their team put decided to put our ‘big guns’ out first to get points on the board,” said Bruntsfield Links team manager Douglas Livingstone.
“I was particularly delighted with Ross Brydon’s win over the previously undefeated Malcolm Campbell, as Ross hadn’t won a game since his victory at Turnhouse against Jack McVey in the very first match.
“Unfortunately, he will not be available for the semi-final as he returns shortly to University in America.”
