SILVERKNOWES, beaten Dispatch Trophy finalists at the Braids last weekend, have vowed to do their bit to halt a declining entry for the event.

“We’ll be trying to get more teams in it,” declared Keith Reilly in response to the field for the event’s 114th staging dropping to a lowest-ever 52.

In the 70s, it used to regularly attract a full field of 128 but since falling below 100 for the first time in nearly 50 years in 1997, the entry has steadily
decreased.
