It can’t be often that a boyfriend and girlfriend are club champions but step forward Alan Mackay and Rachael Livingstone.
They’ve just achieved that feat at Kingsknowe, where Mackay lifted the men’s title for a fourth year in a row while Livingstone won the women’s prize fo the first time.
Mackay beat seven-time winner Steve McCulloch 4&3 to become the first player since the club’s very first champion in 1909-12 to win the event four times in succession. Three in a row was special as only Sev and Scott Knowles had managed this before in recent history, so to make it four means so much,” he said.
Livingstone beat 12-time champion Louise Fraser at the 20th after being two down after four.
