EDINBURGH-BASED Gareth Wright was involved in a four-way tie for the lead at the halfway stage of the Tartan Tour 36-holer at Duddingston.
Wright, who is attached to West Linton, bagged five birdies in signing for a four-under-par 68 on the Capital course, where the event is being held for the second year running.
It was matched by Keir McNicoll, who is attached to Gullane, as well as Winterfield pro Kevin Phillips and Robert Arnott (Bishopbriggs Golf Range).
McNicoll signed for five birdies, dropping his only shot of the day at the 16th, where Phillips ran up a double-bogey.
Earlier, he’d started with four successive bogeys and had seven in total.
Arnott, winner of the inaugural P&H Championship at Dundonald Links at the start of the season, had six birdies on his card. It would have been a five-way tie if Edinburgh man Mark Kerr hadn’t dropped a shot at the last.
It left the Marriott Dalmahoy player sharing fifth spot with Murrayfield pro Jonnie Cliff, who had an eagle and five birdies.
The leaders are out today at just before 1pm.
