THE Capital hopefuls will be spread out in Lancashire on Tuesday when they bid to secure Open spots at Royal Lytham.
Marriott Dalmahoy’s Mark Kerr and Gareth Wright of West Linton came through play-offs at Goswick and Bruntsfield Links respectively to progress to the local final qualifying.
And they’ve been paired together at Southport & Ainsdale, where the 72-strong field also includes Elliot Saltman (Archerfield Links) and Paul McKechnie (Braid Hills).
Lloyd Saltman is at Hillside along with amateurs Paul Ferrier (Baberton) and Cameron Marr (Musselburgh). Marr missed out in the play-off at Goswick but has secured a spot in this 36-hole test from the reserve list.
Royal Burgess amateur James Ross heads to West Lancs, where the Scottish contingent also includes European Tour player Steven O’Hara and 2011 Walker Cup player Michael Stewart.
St Annes Old Links is the fourth course being used and the hopefuls there will include Lothians’-based Challenge Tour player Jamie McLeary.
XHOsts Gullane were due to face Rhodes in today’s semi-final of the County Cup, the top team tournament in East Lothian. In the other semi-final, Bass Rock take on Tantallon.
