DUDDINGSTON, already the leading Lothians lights this year, are now bidding to become the “Kings of the Capital”.
They swept into the semi-finals of the Edinburgh Inter-Club Tournament at Liberton yesterday by beating defending champions Ratho Park 6 and 5.
Conor Scott and 16-year-old junior Stuart Knox set up the notable win by finishing seven up at the front while Gary Thomson and Cameron Hay limited the damage at the back to one down.
Thomson and Hay were both in the four-man side that won the Lothians Team Tournament last month.
Duddingston, who are also through to the semi-finals of the Edinburgh Summer League, were due to face Baberton in this morning’s semi-finals.
The Juniper Green club booked their place in the last four with a 3 and 2 victory over Bruntsfield Links. It’s Turnhouse, who won 9 and 8 against Swanston, versus Prestonfield in the other semi-final. Prestonfield had to dig deep to keep their title hopes alive, winning at the 21st against a plucky Lothianburn quartet.
