Lothians star Stephen Gallacher won Player of the Year in last night’s Scottish Golf Awards in Edinburgh.

The accolade was just reward for a memorable 2014 campaign, which was capped as he played on a winning European team in the Ryder Cup on home soil at Gleneagles.

Prior to that, the 40-year-old had also become the first player in the event’s 25-year history to win the Omega Dubai Desert Classic back-to-back.

“It was a special year for me in 2014, one that will be hard to beat,” said Gallacher, who received his award from Catriona Matthew at the Corn Exchange.

Ratho Park lost out to Peebles in the RBC Junior Club of the Year category.
