GOLFERS at Edinburgh Napier University have achieved a first for the Capital campus by winning promotion in the British Universities and Colleges Sports League.
They finished the season unbeaten to top the Scottish 3A League, claiming the title by three points from St Andrews.
The triumph was secured when the Napier team beat Glasgow Caledonian 5-3 in their final match at The Carrick on Loch Lomond.
“We’ve been made aware that Napier University has never previously had success in golf, making it an even bigger achievement for all involved,” said team captain Mark Bell.
“The University has rewarded us by putting the team forward for ‘team of the year’ at the sports ball, something were all extremely excited about.
“It means the golf team has finally been given recognition for the hard work and effort it took to win promotion.”
