Ratho Park made home advantage count to win the Morison Millar Tournament for the first time since 1963.

The quartet that bridged the 53-year gap in the ladies’ 36-hole double foursome event consisted of Caroline Mansley, Anne Wheelhouse, Katrina McKinlay and Cynthia Briggs. With an aggregate of 291, the Ratho Park A team finished ahead of 31 other teams, with Baberton six shots behind in second spot.

Adding to the home club’s joy as the event was staged at Ratho Park for the first time in 16 years was a separate success by Vicky Sproule and Liz Cargill. The two ‘B’ team members had the best net score – 146 – outwith the team prizes.

This is proving a fruitful season for Ratho Park, with the men’s team enjoying its best campaign for some time in the Clarity Edinburgh Summer League.

They are through to the quarter-finals in that with five wins from nine matches.
