A WRIST injury forced Stephen Gallacher to pull out of the BMW PGA Championship before teeing off in today’s opening round at Wentworth.
Tendonitis flared up on Wednesday morning, meaning the Lothians star missed out on partnering Gordon Strachan, Kenny Dalglish and Graeme Souness in the pro-am.
He had a cortisone injection in the hope it could ease the pain sufficiently overnight but Gallacher withdrew before his scheduled 8.25am tee time today.
Fifth behind Rory McIlroy 12 months ago, the 40-year-old said he was “disappointed” to miss out on the European Tour’s flagship event.
“The wrist is better but not quite there,” he added.
