Craigmillar Park’s Megan Linton was top of the class at the Paul Lawrie Foundation Scottish Schoolgirls Championship. Playing off 12, she claimed the girls’ handicap trophy with a net 67 at Murrayshall in Perthshire.

Dunbar’s Connor Wilson finished joint-second behind Marc Watt (Inverallochy) in the boys’ scratch event. Wilson, who made his debut in the Dispatch Trophy last month, shot rounds of 76 and 72 to end up just three behind Watt (69-76).

• Golf in the city

Visitors to central Edinburgh will feel like they have stepped on to a golf course later this month when St Andrews Square is transformed into an interactive golf zone from June 16-19.

It is being hosted by Scotland’s Golf Coast to mark East Lothian staging the Paul Lawrie Match Play (Archerfield Links), the Boys Amateur Championship (Muirfield and The Renaissance Club) and the Scottish Seniors Open (Archerfield Links) this summer.

There will be a range of activities and challenges for all the family.

• Lothians boys miss out

Lothians, the event’s dominant force in recent times, may have been beaten on this occasion but they certainly weren’t disgraced in the SGL Boys Area Team Championship at Grangemouth.

A quartet comprising of Andrew Benson (West Lothian), David Rudd (Longniddry), Eric McIntosh (Bruntsfield Links) and Brodie Good (Gullane) was pipped by Lanarkshire for the title by a single shot. McIntosh and Rudd shot 72 and 72 respectively in the singles.
